Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has made it clear that black

marketing of essential goods on such occasions is a crime. Amid efforts to

curb Corona, He has specifically said that the government will take strong

action if there is a complaint of selling masks and sanitizer at a higher

price. Mr. Soren himself underwent a scan of his body temperature in the

assembly premises today. Health workers of Sadar Hospital had reached

there for this work. The investigation found the body temperature of the

chief minister to be normal. This was the normal screening process caused

by the corona virus.

The Chief Minister came to know through social media that masks and

sanitizer are being sold at higher prices in Ranchi. Seeing the seriousness of

the matter, the Chief Minister has directed the Deputy Commissioner

Ranchi and the police to take appropriate cognizance of the matter and take

appropriate punitive action. The Chief Minister said that all the vendors are

aware and they should understand that masks and sanitizer come under the

purview of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, so selling them at a rate

higher than black marketing and fair price is a crime.

Chief minister acted after complaint

Mr. Soren has directed adminstration at the prevention of corona after

receiving a complaint  through social media. He had received complaints

about the sale of masks and sanitizers at a reputed drug store in Ranchi and

some other parts of the state. Taking immediate action, Mr. Soren had also

issued a directive to the district administration to investigate the matter and

take appropriate action. People are complaining that the prices of these two

goods have been suddenly increased by the shopkeepers across the state.

Due to this type of action in Deoghar, punitive action has already been taken

against a shop there and the shop keeper is facing legal actions now.
