New Delhi: World’s largest egg fossil found in the depth of Antarctica is
11 inches long and seven inches wide in size. It is the world’s largest egg found
and that too of a creature crawling on the ground of that period. After preliminary
testing of the egg, scientists have come to the conclusion that it is probably 68
million years old. At that time there used to be only huge creatures on earth. In
that era, the dinosaur who ruled this earth was the most aggressive, powerful and
intelligent. Scientists have come to the conclusion based on the size of the egg
that any creature that has this egg was similar in size to a large dinosaur. By the
way, scientists have clarified about this egg that it is not a dinosaur egg. Such
opinion has been expressed by Geo Scientist Lucas Legendre of the University of
Texas. According to him, every creeping creature whose egg it is must have been
at least 23 feet tall in size. The research has been published in yesterday’s journal
Nature. This newly discovered species has just been scientifically named. He has
been called by scientists as Antarcticulithus Brady.
World’s largest egg was analyzed
Based on the structure of the egg itself, scientists have concluded that it is a
reptile egg. That is, this is the egg of a huge creature crawling on the ground.
Also, there have been indications that any creature that has this egg could easily
move in water. That is, this creeping creature could walk on both land and water.
Seeing the shape of the egg, it was first considered as a dinosaur egg in terms of
size. As soon as information about its protected structure was obtained, it became
clear that it is not actually the egg of any creature of the dinosaur species, but it is
the egg of another giant creature crawling on the ground.
Indeed, when it was initially thought to be a dinosaur egg, their figures were
matched with pre-existing dinosaur fossil eggs to end the controversy. It is clear
from the matching of figures that there is a difference in the structure of this egg
and the eggs of pre-existing dinosaurs. Researchers have already discovered eggs
prepared in a young and fully grown species of dinosaurs. They were combined
with their structure. It was already known that the shell of dinosaur eggs was
relatively soft so that the child could break the shell easily. The dinosaur children
grew rapidly under the protection of their parents after they came out of the shell.
But the reptile class eggs have a very strong shell. The main reason for this is that
only after the developing child is completely powerful, he is able to break the
shell from himself and come out. After getting out he starts crawling on his own.
This difference also made it clear that the egg fossil that has been dug from the
depths of Antarctica is not actually a dinosaur egg.
Matched samples from Argentina and Mongolia
Scientists found it easier to match dinosaur eggs found in Argentina and
Mongolia. The structure of eggs of dinosaurs is also exactly the same as that of
the birds of the present species. In this context, scientists believe that during the
process of change, the nature of many animals of the earth changed, but one of
the natural traits of the species from which these new species evolved is still the
basic basis of lineage growth. Fossils of eggs of the first-found dinosaur species
are not more than ten centimeters in size. Eggs of only one species twenty feet
long were completely spherical.
