Guwahati: Badruddin Ajmal this time has been engulfed in a new type of

serious controversy. However, till now the charge has not been confirmed and

some people also believe that it could be an election Shigufa. All India United

Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal’s non-governmental

organization (NGO) Ajmal Foundation is alleged to have received funds from

various foreign organizations, besides links with terrorist groups. The

shocking revelation was made by the Legal Right Observatory (LRO), a legal

rights organization affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Maulana Badruddin Ajmal’s organization allegedly receives funds from foreign

agencies linked to terrorist groups, complains the right-wing leader. Assam

MP Maulana Badruddin heads the All India United Democratic Front, which is

negotiating with the Congress for an alliance ahead of the 2021 assembly

elections. Right-wing leader Satya Ranjan Bora cited a report from an NGO

called Legal Rights Observatory in a complaint against the Ajmal Foundation

at a police station in Guwahati. Mr. Bora said in the FIR, “In view of the

report, we want a proper investigation in this regard under the Unlawful

Activities Prevention Act… Ajmal Foundation has misused those foreign

funds.” to book. The NGO said in a tweet that the Foundation received 69.55

crore for education from “Turkish and UK terrorist groups”, but used only

2.05 crore.

Badruddin Ajmal and Bisma Sarma’s talk

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hoped that the Center would

investigate possible Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) violations

by the Foundation. “There is a belief that Badruddin Ajmal spends out of his

own pocket for humanitarian work, but the reality is different,” he said. The

LRO also listed the names of the NGOs that are funding the Ajmal

Foundation. One of them is the UK-based Al Imdad Foundation, which was

directly linked to the Palestinian resistance-spreading terrorist group Hamas,

which is known for several suicide bombings in Palestine against Israel. The

list includes another group, the Ummah Welfare Trust UK, charged with

money laundering and terrorist financing. Similarly, another donor to the

Ajmal Foundation is the Turkish-based Insani Yadim Waqfi (Foundation for

Human Rights and Freedom and Humanitarian Relief). Which has been

revealed by many government agencies around the world to have direct

relations with al-Qaeda terrorist group. Another donor is Muslim and UK,

known for direct contact with the Kashmiri militant group Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following this revelation, the state’s Finance and Health Minister Himant

Vishwa Sharma immediately sought intervention from the Center to

investigate the matter.

Allegations of terrorist organization

He said, till now the people of Assam knew that the Ajmal Foundation was

working with Ajmal. Is doing charity work with his own money. But the

revelations have revealed that organizations linked to terrorist activities were

funding the Ajmal Foundation. He said that the Ajmal Foundation itself

should tell about where the amount of 70 crore is coming annually and where

it is being used otherwise the central government will definitely take care of it.

Assam Minister-cum-BJP North East leader Himanta Biswa Sharma said

about the matter that it is a punishable offense, we hope the central

government will conduct an investigation. Meanwhile, the Ajmal Foundation

has dismissed the allegations against him.
